11/08/2008 - Avondale, AZ (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Denny Hamlin won the pole for Saturday's Hefty Odor Block 200 Nationwide Series race at the Phoenix International Raceway. Hamlin, who went out 38th in the 50-driver qualifying order, turned in a lap around the one-mile track in 27.085 seconds (132.915 m.p.h.).

The pole victory was Hamlin's first of the season and the 12th of his Nationwide career.

"It was a good lap for us at that time of the day," Hamlin said. "I would have liked to gone earlier to see how fast we could have really gone."

Carl Edwards will start second after posting a time of 27.161 seconds. Edwards is currently 91 points behind Clint Bowyer with just two races to go.

"It's an important race for us, obviously," Edwards said. "As long as we start up front and have a good pit stall, it's going to be good."

Kyle Busch and Kevin Harvick will start on the second row, while Mike Bliss and Jamie McMurray will make up row three.

Scott Lagasse, David Ragan, David Stremme and Josh Wise will start seventh through 10th, respectively. Bowyer will roll off 12th.

Edwards has finished no worse than eighth in seven Nationwide starts at Phoenix. He won the fall 2005 race there.

Bowyer, meanwhile, has scored four-straight top-10 finishes at Phoenix, including a victory there in April 2007

Last Saturday, Busch scored the victory at Texas and tied Sam Ard's 1983 series record for most wins in a season with 10. Busch acknowledged Ard's accomplishments in the series and also pledged to donate $100,000 to assist Ard and his wife, Jo, with their medical and financial situation. Ard, the 1983 and '84 series champion, suffers from Alzheimer's disease, while his wife is losing her eyesight.

Busch is looking to break Ard's record this weekend at Phoenix, where he has won the last two Nationwide races.

The green flag is scheduled to drop Saturday around 4:30 p.m. (et).

Stanley Cup betting

New York, NY – October 3, 2007 – The dress rehearsal is over! The NHL preseason has ended and now that fans have had a glimpse of what is to come it is time to hit the book! Stanley Cup odds are live at MySportsbook.com, the world’s largest online sportsbook and casino.

The Ottawa Senators and Detroit Red Wings remain on top of the odds charts after an impressive start in the preseason. Betting lines opened for both teams at 6-1 in June. Since then the Sens have fallen to 7-1 and the Red Wings are now caught in a pack including the defending champion Carolina Hurricanes, the San Jose Sharks and the Anaheim Ducks, all at 10-1.

MySportsbook.com has also posted props on each team’s point total for the regular season. The Senators lead the charge at 108.5 followed by the Ducks at 106.5. Detroit will attempt a repeat for the prize as the Red Wings are deadlocked with the Predators at 104.5 a piece. The temporary loss of highly touted rookie Evgeni Malkin puts a lot of pressure on the stick of assistant captain Sidney Crosby - his lowly Pittsburgh Penguins are listed at 71.5.

Even if bettors are not brave enough to put their money on the underdog, an early bet on the favorites at sportsbook.com tends to produce bigger payouts than a mid-season wager. Placing a $1,000 bet last summer on the Detroit Red Wings or Ottawa Senators would have paid out to $8,000 and $10,000 respectively, opposed to a $2,500 or $3,000 payout at the beginning of the playoffs.

NFL Football Sports Betting

Two playoff teams from 2007 take center stage on the NFL Network Sunday night in a Week 2 NFL betting match-up when the (0-1) New England Patriots betting head south to Florida for a contest with the (1-0) Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

New England HC Bill Belichick couldn’t care less about the way his team plays in the preseason. With a chance to tie last week’s game with the Baltimore Ravens betting, He elected to go for the two-point conversion and outright victory. The conversion failed, and the Pats ended up falling to the Ravens by a 16-15 final count.

New England rolled off twelve unanswered points to give it a chance at securing the victory, but it never threatened to cover the 3.5-point spread. NFL bettors saw this one coming, as they bet the Ravens down from +6 to +3.5 as the week progressed. QB Tom Brady didn’t take part in the Patriots first preseason clash, but could see action this weekend.

His three replacements all put up embarrassing numbers. They went a combined 17 for 33, and threw three interceptions and no touchdowns. The New England defense was encouraging, as they held the Ravens to 2/12 third down conversions and surrendered just ten first downs. That ‘D’ should be bolstered with the addition of former Bucs and Denver Broncos betting safety John Lynch, who could make his Patriots debut on Sunday against his former mates.

HC Jon Gruden had to be impressed with the way his Bucs played on both sides of the ball in their dominating 17-6 victory over the Miami Dolphins in Week 1’s NFL pre-season betting action. Bucs bettors were quite happy with the effort, as they made a mockery of the fact that they were underdogs in the game.

The logjam at the quarterback position didn’t get any easier to separate for Gruden, as all four of his QBs had positive experiences in the first exhibition of 2008. The four combined to complete 28 of their 40 passes for 204 yards and a touchdown, and that was without starting QB Jeff Garcia in the lineup.

RB Michael Bennett had 19 carries and four receptions, totaling 90 yards and a touchdown. Expect to see more of Bennett, Kenneth Darby, and Earnest Graham, as they all compete for playing time with Warrick Dunn in the backfield this season. Defensively, the Bucs recorded four sacks and held the Fins offense in check all day.

First round draft pick Aqib Talib was impressive in the secondary, recording a tackle and two pass defenses in his debut. Don’t be surprised to see Talib in the starting lineup opposite Ronde Barber for the Bucs in ’08.

The betting trends suggest that NFL bettors should be backing the Bucs in this intra-conference exhibition.

These two teams hooked up last year in Tampa Bay, with the Bucs winning that game 13-10. The Buccaneers have only lost one preseason game at home dating back to the beginning of the ’05 preseason. The Patriots have had a mixed bag of results in their recent exhibitions. They have gone 2-2 ATS and SU each of the last three years.

New England currently sits as modest 1-point favorites in this preseason showdown with the ‘total’ now sitting at 34.5.
